HemingwayEx Widgets
Recently, I’ve been playing around with the HemingwayEx theme for Wordpress. I love how unique it is!
Wordpress recently added widget support to the wordpress core (as of version 2.2). Hemingway themes, on the other hand, make use of their own built-in “blocks” system, which while similar, isn’t exactly the same.
Ninja Monkeys released an update to Hemingway which adds widget support, so I figured I’d do something similar for HemingwayEx (at least until it gets officially added to HemingwayEx).
Download link: (REMOVED - HemingwayEx 1.0 includes widget support)
(note: this is a 7-zip compressed file)
Added files:
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget1.php
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget2.php
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget3.php
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget4.php
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget5.php
hemingwayEx/blocks/widget6.php
Modified files:
hemingwayEx/functions.php
hemingwayEx/search.php (this doesn’t have anything to do with widgets, I just fixed a grammatical error)
This adds 6 new blocks (named Sidebar 1-6) into the ‘HemingwayEx Options’ page. The functions.php file should, by default, add these new blocks to the Slidebar & Bottombar but if not you can manually drag&drop them yourself. Once these blocks are in place, simply go to the Widgets tab and add whatever widgets you want.
For more detailed instructions on adding widget support to Hemingway themes, this post might help.
